Hollywood Film star Liam Neeson has made a video appeal urging people to attend a public rally in his home town of Ballymena.
The actor wants to highlight the lack of job opportunities for the people of Ballymena and surrounding areas.
Within the last twelve months Ballymena has lost two major employers with JTI Gallaher tobacco and tyre manufacturer Michelin, both to close with the loss of hundreds of jobs. In some cases whole families across the generations will lose their livelihoods.
In response to the factory closures and lack of investment in Ballymena released an appeal to the people of the Co Antrim town.
“Hello, I’m Liam Neeson, a proud Ballymena man,” he begins his video message.
“I’m backing the demand for jobs and investment in Ballymena.
“I’m asking you to attend the Rally for a Future at the Ballymena bandstand at noon on 6 February.
“Please be there.”
The protest rally is being organised by the union Unite.
Regional Secretary Jimmy Kelly said: “It is clear that Rally for a Future continues to gather momentum as we move towards Saturday.
“It is vital that everyone in the community makes the effort to join with us in sending the strongest possible message to our political leaders.”
